09 June 2007 The website has not been updated for a while. Other projects have been keeping us very busy. One of the issues we have been facing is that the two brothers (Tehl and Zorro) have started fighting over Tzu (the only bitch). So for the last one and a half years we have to keep the two seperate, different packs running around. The one pack build around Zorro normally includes Tzu, the pack around Tehl normally includes Mao. Pasha does not really care with which pack he is, as long as he is not alone everything is fine. About a year ago we tried to re-introduce the two brothers which resulted in a hospital visit for Aad. Trying to prevent the brothers fighting he put his hand in between resulting in Tehl biting him. Very clever. On the brighter side. At the non-championship show of the Shar Pei Club of Gauteng Tehl won Reserve Best of Breed and Best Opposite Sex while being handled by Reyman Mphande. You can find the picture on Tehl's page. A picture of Tzu has also been added to her page. |

19 August 2005 Like mentioned in the update of 26 June 2005, Nala has been staying with us for nearly a month now and is about to be collected by her owners. The amazement of Dahlet Tz'u Hsi's behavior has continued, and since Nala is here she spents many an evening completely tired of playing next to the heater (it's still winter here). Nala has been playing so roughly, or the others with her, that she has actually sprained her tail now twice and it's hanging down while she is in the best of playful moods, and we have to protect her a bit from all the others. Even Mao had some trouble with moving his hind legs, but we think this is more due to too much play at his age, as to rough play. We used Nala's stay at our place to take her to a couple of show's that we had to attend with Zorro anyway. The both of them did very well. We entered them in three shows, two open championship shows and the KUSA/FCI International show. In the first two shows they both won a CC, two in total each, which now make's Arowana Zorro a champion. Zorro also won best SA Bred in the Utility Group, which is a rarity in South Africa, in one of the two shows. Both Zorro and Nala were graded "excellent" in the FCI International Show. Nala now needs 2 or 3 more points, we are not sure. She won her first point between 6 and 9 months and we are not sure if that one counts towards championship status. |

26 June 2005 Slowly we have learned to cope with the fact that Qing is not any more there. It took the other four Shar Pei a month to settle into their new pecking order and get used to the fact Qing was no longer there. We have decided to create a new section in the garden in her remembrance, a herb garden naturally. The greatest surprise to all of us has been Dahlet Tz'u Hsi. She has now finally transformed in the Dragon Lady we always thought she would be, and is playing with and bullying all the boys being the only female now. Next month we will have Nala stay over for a month, so let's see what will happen to Tz'u then. In the last update we promised you some news on Antoinette's trip to China. Well here you can see some of the pictures of this fascinating trip. The pages of Arowana Nala, Arowana Hai Xiang, Arowana Zorro and Dahlet Tz'u Hsi have also been updated with new pictures. |

5 April 2005 After celebrating the birthday of the two boys, on the 5th of March we sadly had to say farewell to Qing, their mother, due to a devastating disease (Streptococcal Toxic Shock Syndrome) that we never ever want to experience again. We wanted to be thorough in our investigation and have waited for the necropsy (autopsy) report before sharing our experience. Read more about it on her ILM page. As many of you may know, Antoinette had a splendid visit to China to go back to the origins of the Shar Pei. She came back with a bronchitis, close to a pneumonia, so any news on this trip will be included in the next website update. But yes, she did see the Giant Panda's, the Terracotta warriors, the Great Wall, Beijing, Guangzhou,Dailet + 100 Shar Pei's, Hong Kong, etc. Arowana Magoy won Best SA Bred at the Champion Trophy Show held 19 March 2005, we are proud of his and Chiara's achievement, congratulations! |
